End of the Year - College Update

This year at Oak Valley was two entirely periods. The first half of the year was, again, dominated by Covid-19 restrictions, concerns, and adjustments. Those issues seemed all-encompassing and students and faculty struggled through some tough times in early 2021.

Fortunately, due to Oak Valley’s small size and cohort-based program, things were able to return to in-person teaching and learning, and students were in class and able to see things return to “normal.” Commencement in the spring was near normal with a full house as students celebrated their accomplishment with friends and family.

Fall Semester kicked off with 21 new students joining the Oak Valley community. Each cohort is unique. The freshmen identity is still being formed. It is very diverse group, and they seem to be sticking close together. The next two years will see how they bond together and what distinct identity they form.

Also with Fall Semester, faculty, staff, administration, and the board focused on the October accreditation visit. The WASC visit team was complimentary of the dedication and alignment of the faculty, staff, and board to Oak Valley’s mission, vision, and values. They were equally impressed with the students and alumni who offered an affirmation that Oak Valley is true to its purpose in helping them achieve their dreams through Oak Valley’s accessible, quality, and Christian mission. The visit went exceptionally well with the team recommending Oak Valley for Initial Accreditation. Accreditation is scheduled to be formalized on February 25.

Finally, as the year closes, Oak Valley is, again, on its way to expanding and deepening its commitment to serve its students with a rigorous, high-quality, affordable, and faith-based Bachelor’s in Business.

Please consider Oak Valley’s Dream Beyond Campaign. Gifts go directly to support student scholarships. A gift of $1,000, $500, $250, or in any amount will support scholarships in 2022 and help students live, learn, and grow. Click here to give!

Blessings for a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous new year.
