What We Believe

Name & Visual Design

Oak trees are commonly associated trees commonly associated with longevity, stability, power, and strength, and their wood is known for its beauty and durability. In Southern California, oaks grow as evergreen, deciduous trees in lush, drought-tolerant ecosystems, demonstrating their diversity and adaptability. These beautiful and resilient trees sprout from tiny acorns, symbolizing energy and growth from small beginnings.

At Oak Valley College, we recognize these attributes in every student we serve. That’s why we draw our name from the mighty oak. We honor the diligence, character, and determination it takes to work toward and achieve the educational and career goals they’re dreaming of.

Alongside the attributes of the oak and our extraordinary students, we also wanted our name to represent a sense of place while maintaining geographical ambiguity. Oak Valley College intends to grow its footprint beyond Southern California, extending our home away from home to multiple campuses where our students and faculty can live, learn, and grow while maintaining a broad sense of community.

Oak Valley College’s logo is a visual representation of our name and also the Holy Spirit. The flame, dove, and oak leaf are intertwined within the design as a single image bathed in earth tones representing the Holy Spirit’s provision for every one of us through the power of God’s grace, mercy, and love.
